Instruments

Musical instruments are wonderful gifts!  Students of any age find joy and satisfaction in learning how to play an instrument.  Instruments on this page have been evaluated by us for quality, tone, playability, aesthetics and value.  We sell these instruments to our students because a quality instrument allows the beginner to learn proper technique.  Knowing that the instrument can produce the proper notes and tones also assures the student that practicing will produce beautiful music!

  • 3/4 size Classical guitar

This is a 3/4 size classical guitar with nylon strings.  It is about 3" shorter than a full-size guitar.  The body is proportionately smaller too.  But this guitar still has full-size tone and volume.  Constructed by Strunal in the Czech Republic, it has Mahogany sides and back, with a solid Cedar top .This is a quality 3/4 size classical guitar

In order to maintain a high level of quality, the manufacturers of musical instruments in Europe have formed two organizations:  The European Excellence Musical Excellence (EEX) and the Confederation of European Music Industries (CAFIM).  These two organizations have both confirmed that this Strunal guitar "satisfies the conditions of European Excellence according to EEX 1001."  A certificate of authenticity and quality is provided with each guitar.

This is a fine guitar for beginners or experienced players who are looking for an inexpensive second guitar with excellent tone and playability.

Classical nylon-string guitars vs. Folk steel-string guitars.

How to choose?  Nylon strings are generally larger diameter than steel strings.  So the tips of your fingers are subjected to less pressure.  The tone of nylon strings is very pleasing-- mellow, yet rich in timbre.  Nylon strings don't corrode like steel strings so they can last longer.  The lower strings on a classical guitar are wound with brass or nickel, so this outer layer can corrode, but the core which is nylon, is quite durable.  Ultimately, it depends on how often you play, how hard you pluck or strum the strings, and whether you use a plastic pick or just your fingers to pluck and strum.
